Light Trail

Setting up the lane…

Panels glow one after another, each with its own shape and its own tone. Repeat the order. Every round deals a fresh trail, and each right answer makes the next one a step longer.

How a run works

A run has up to 12 rounds and three lives. Watch the trail, then tap the panels in the same order. A correct trail makes the next one a step longer. A wrong panel costs a life, marks the panel that was due, and the next trail keeps the same length.

The trail is new every round rather than one tune that keeps growing, so each answer is the whole order from scratch. A panel never flashes twice in a row.

The figure that counts is the longest trail you replayed in the correct order; points, rounds and mistakes sit on the result card.

Levels

  • Easy: four panels at a calm pace, first trail of 3 steps.
  • Medium: six panels, first trail of 3 steps.
  • Hard: nine panels with quicker flashes, first trail of 4 steps.
  • Long trails flash a little faster at every level, down to 70 % of the opening pace.

Speed tactics

  • Name the shapes as they flash: circle, star, cross. A list of words is easier to hold than a picture.
  • Group the trail in threes, like a phone number: circle-star-drop, square-cross.
  • Keep the sound on. Each panel has its own tone, so the trail is also a short tune.
  • Watch the whole board, not one panel. Eyes that chase each flash miss the start of the next one.
  • Tap back at an even pace. Rushing the last two steps is where most trails break.

Questions

Why is every trail different?

So the earlier part of a trail never carries over. It also keeps the sprint of the day fair: anyone who reaches the same round with the same trail length sees the same trail.

Is there a keyboard option?

Yes. Keys 1 to 4, 1 to 6 or 1 to 9 pick the panels, counting along each row from the top row down.

How do I turn the sound off?

Use the speaker button in the game header. Your choice is remembered in this browser.

Is there a timer while I repeat the trail?

No. Only the flashes are timed; you can take your time on the way back.

Where can I practise a set length?

The Light Trail ladder has fixed runs with a target length for each step.
